The Trenching & Excavation Safety for the Competent Person course is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P Excavation Standards, as well as an introduction to current protective system design, selection, and installation.
According to OSHA, a Competent Person is defined as a person capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has the authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.

The training class shall consist of a combination of lectures, video segments, facilitated student discussions, demonstrations and written examinations.
This course will provide great benefits to any employee working in or near open trenches and excavations. This class is suited for construction foremen, supervisors, superintendents, project managers and contractors.
Participants will receive a course completion certificate and earn .8 Continuing Education Units from the Florida Chamber Safety Council. If applicable, participants will receive .8 Continuing Education Units from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DS/DW/WW 02099005) upon successful completion of the course.
