OSHA requires employers to annually train their employees to safeguard those who have reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Without proper preparation, blood diseases, and airborne pathogens, costly OSHA and state-specific regulatory fines could be levied. More importantly, lives could be adversely affected or even lost. This course makes it easy to understand how OSHA’s bloodborne standard affects your organization.

In this four-hour course, participants will learn the fundamentals of bloodborne pathogens, essential information on hepatitis viruses and HIV, how to prevent infection from bloodborne pathogens, exposure controls, labeling, and key facts about airborne and bloodborne pathogens, including tuberculosis. This course will also help you understand the standard and have a copy of it to keep onsite, offer refresher training, learn how to control the spread of TB, influenza, and other airborne pathogens, and know what to do if an exposure occurs.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a course completion card and certificate. Each student will also earn .4 CEU’s from the Florida Chamber Safety Council.

Who Should Attend?

This course is for everyone! Whether you are an emergency responder, a safety professional, a supervisor, an individual requiring certification, or just a member of the general public, you will gain valuable skills and information that could impact the survival and recovery of a person experiencing a medical emergency.
